When using classifier to filter traces, not all packets will be traced.
In that case, we should only count traced packets.

Getting an unexpected EPOLLOUT for RX queue and crashing due to missing

File descriptors are recycled. It is likely that the EPOLLOUT is meant
for the previous owner of the same file descriptor number which memif
recycled and memif RX did not expect to receive an EPOLLOUT. For
defensive play, we create a dummy callback function to ignore the
EPOLLOUT instead of crashing.

Some of the tests are time-sensitive, and at present require a non-trivial
modification in order to run at high concurrency.
Without these modifications, they intermittently fail, and require
the test retries.
Rather than setting them to the extended tests and forgetting
about them, put them into a "solo" set, which gets run in a
single-threaded mode after the rest of the tests are done.
Mark a few of the tests that showed errors during TEST_JOBS=48
as forced-solo.
Also, give a better diagnostic if the testcase misses a docstring
needed to represent it in the diagnostic outputs.

- Remove vl_api_from_api_string
to prevent use of not nul-terminated strings.
- Rename vl_api_from_api_to_vec -> vl_api_from_api_to_new_vec
to imply a new vector is created. NOT nul terminated.
- Add vl_api_from_api_to_new_c_string. Returns
nul terminated string in a new vector.
- Add vl_api_c_string_to_api_string. Convert nul terminated
string to vl_api_string_t
- Add vl_api_vec_to_api_string. Convert NON nul terminated
vector to vl_api_string_t

In addition to the external vppapitrace tool, VPP itself supports dumping of API trace files.
In two formats, "custom-dump" and "dump". "dump" gives a human friendly list,
and "custom-dump" is meant to give a list of commands that can be fed to VAT.
This patch only deals with "dump".
Prior to this fix, auto-generation was only done for the basic types.
This fix adds support for any type, including lists, and supports pretty-printing
of enums, strings, IP addresses, MAC addresses and so on.
Usage: api trace dump <api-trace-file>
For example

When memif sends back socket messages containing strings, we copy
vectors into C-string. Unfortunately, most vectors are not
null-terminated, causing strncpy() read overflow. Moreover, strncpy()
does not null-terminate string in case of max length reached.
This patch introduces helpers to safely copy strings from vectors.

Multiple API message handlers call vnet_get_sup_hw_interface(...)
without checking the inbound sw_if_index. This can cause a
pool_elt_at_index ASSERT in a debug image, and major disorder in a
production image.
Given that a number of places are coded as follows, add an
"api_visible_or_null" variant of vnet_get_sup_hw_interface, which
returns NULL given an invalid sw_if_index, or a hidden sw interface:
- hw = vnet_get_sup_hw_interface (vnm, sw_if_index);
+ hw = vnet_get_sup_hw_interface_api_visible_or_null (vnm, sw_if_index);
if (hw == NULL || memif_device_class.index != hw->dev_class_index)
return clib_error_return (0, "not a memif interface");
Rename two existing xxx_safe functions -> xxx_or_null to make it
obvious what they return.

The fast path almost always has to deal with the real
pointers. Deriving the frame pointer from a frame_index requires a
load of the 32bit frame_index from memory, another 64bit load of the
heap base pointer and some calculations.
Lets store the full pointer instead and do a single 64bit load only.
This helps avoiding problems when the heap is grown and frames are
allocated below vm->heap_aligned_base.

If the corresponding vpp plugin is absent, return a non-zero
clib_error_t * from vat_plugin_register ("xxx plugin not loaded"). The
vat plugin calls dlclose on the vat plugin, and it disappears.
Depending on the plugin configuration, this can reduce the vpp virtual
size by several gigabytes.
Added a VAT_PLUGIN(<plugin-name>) macro to vat_helper_macros, clean up
boilerplate vat_plugin_register() implementations. Fixed a number of
non-standard vat_plugin_register methods.

-fno-common makes sure we do not have multiple declarations of the same
global symbol across compilation units. It helps debug nasty linkage
bugs by guaranteeing that all reference to a global symbol use the same
underlying object.
It also helps avoiding benign mistakes such as declaring enum as global
objects instead of types in headers (hence the minor fixes scattered
across the source).
