2019-09-23interface: use the correct condition for checking if the pcap fd is openAndrew Yourtchenko1-1/+1
The 9af7e2e87e used a comparison that fd is >= 0 to check that the pcap needs closing. While the pcap_close() function does reset the file descriptor to -1, the freshly initialized structure has it equal to 0. This causes the VPP to close stdin if the packets are being seen on pg interface without the capture file being opened. This triggers the vpp attempting to read from STDIN (another bug), which results in running out of memory. 2019-09-20misc: classifier-based packet trace filterDave Barach1-0/+1
See .../src/vnet/classify/trace_classify.h for the business end of the scheme. It would be best to hash pkts, prefetch buckets, and do the primary table lookups two at a time. The inline as given works, but perf tuning will be required. "At least it works..." Add "classify filter" debug cli, for example: classify filter mask l3 ip4 src dst \ match l3 ip4 dst 192.168.2.10 src 192.168.1.10 Add "pcap rx | tx trace ... filter" to use the current classify filter chain Patch includes sphinx documentation and doxygen tags. The VPP code tries to set all userspace memory in the table via IOCTL to VHOST_SET_MEM_TABLE. But on aarch64, the userspace address range is larger (48 bits) than that on x86 (47 bits). 2019-07-23vlib: address vlib_error_t scaling issueDave Barach6-38/+36
Encoding the vpp node index into the vlib_error_t as a 10-bit quantity limits us to 1K graph nodes. Unfortunately, a few nodes need 6 bit per-node error codes. Only a very few nodes have so many counters. It turns out that there are about 2K total error counters in the system, which is (approximately) the maximum error heap index. The current (index, code) encoding limits the number of interfaces to around 250, since each interface has two associated graph nodes and we have about 500 "normal, interior" graph node This patch adds an error-index to node-index map, so we can store error heap indices directly in the vlib_buffer_t. 2019-07-18vlib: convert frame_index into real pointersAndreas Schultz3-82/+44
The fast path almost always has to deal with the real pointers. Deriving the frame pointer from a frame_index requires a load of the 32bit frame_index from memory, another 64bit load of the heap base pointer and some calculations. Lets store the full pointer instead and do a single 64bit load only. This helps avoiding problems when the heap is grown and frames are allocated below vm->heap_aligned_base. 2019-07-10vlib: Replace timer in CLI with an event processChris Luke1-16/+140
The CLI code, when it accepts a socket connection, ran a timer for each session that would ensure the CLI session was started should the TELNET negotiation stage fail to complete. It has since transpired that this is unsafe; the timer is capable of firing in critical sections, during a spinlock, and since we peform non-trivial things in the handler it can cause a deadlock. This was reported recently in VPP-1711 but a search of history suggests this may also be (one of) the causes in VPP-1413. This change replaces that method with an event-driven process. The process is created when the first socket connection is accepted. When new connections are created the process is sent an event to register the new session in a list. That event process has a loop that evaluates the list of oustanding sessions and if a deadline expires, their session is started if it has not been already, and then removed from the list. If we have pending sessions then the loop waits on a timer or an event; if there are no sessions it waits on events only. 2019-05-16init / exit function orderingDave Barach8-60/+577
The vlib init function subsystem now supports a mix of procedural and formally-specified ordering constraints. We should eliminate procedural knowledge wherever possible. The following schemes are *roughly* equivalent: static clib_error_t *init_runs_first (vlib_main_t *vm) { clib_error_t *error; ... do some stuff... if ((error = vlib_call_init_function (init_runs_next))) return error; ... } VLIB_INIT_FUNCTION (init_runs_first); and static clib_error_t *init_runs_first (vlib_main_t *vm) { ... do some stuff... } VLIB_INIT_FUNCTION (init_runs_first) = { .runs_before = VLIB_INITS("init_runs_next"), }; The first form will [most likely] call "init_runs_next" on the spot. The second form means that "init_runs_first" runs before "init_runs_next," possibly much earlier in the sequence. Please DO NOT construct sets of init functions where A before B actually means A *right before* B. It's not necessary - simply combine A and B - and it leads to hugely annoying debugging exercises when trying to switch from ad-hoc procedural ordering constraints to formal ordering constraints.
