2020-01-30fib: fix typos in doxygenPaul Vinciguerra1-10/+10
cleaned up some trivial typo's while reading through adj.h Type: docs Change-Id: I1b6cd815dc10ed3da8db2024b3e015e076235d50 Signed-off-by: Paul Vinciguerra <pvinci@vinciconsulting.com>
2019-12-17ip: Protocol Independent IP NeighborsNeale Ranns1-0/+4
Type: feature - ip-neighbour: generic neighbour handling; APIs, DBs, event handling, aging - arp: ARP protocol implementation - ip6-nd; IPv6 neighbor discovery implementation; separate ND, MLD, RA - ip6-link; manage link-local addresses - l2-arp-term; events separated from IP neighbours, since they are not the same. vnet retains just enough education to perform ND/ARP packet construction. arp and ip6-nd to be moved to plugins soon. 2019-11-26fib: reduce save_rewrite_length to u8Klement Sekera1-1/+1
This is a preparation step for migrating NAT to use SVR (shallow virtual reassembly) to conserve space in vnet_buffer. Since max rewrite length is currently pre-data size (128), u8 is sufficient to hold that value. 2019-09-23fib: do not dump no-longer valid adjacenciesBenoît Ganne1-1/+7
In some cases, we can refer to no-longer adjacencies (eg. in traces). Do not dump them in this case as they are probably incorrect (memory can be reused). Type: fix Change-Id: Ib653ba066bb6595ec6ec37d313a3124bce0eeed3 Signed-off-by: Benoît Ganne <bganne@cisco.com>
2018-12-07FIB recusrion loop checks traverse midchain adjacenciesNeale Ranns1-5/+58
if a tunnel's destination address is reachable through the tunnel (see example config belwo) then search for and detect a recursion loop and don't stack the adjacency. Otherwise this results in a nasty surprise. 2018-06-11MTU: Software interface / Per-protocol MTU supportOle Troan1-6/+0
This patch separates setting of hardware interfaec and software interface MTU. Software MTU is L2 payload MTU (i.e. not including L2 header). Per-protocol MTU for IPv4, IPv6 and MPLS can also be set. Currently only IP4, IP6 are enabled in adjacency / rewrite code. Documentation in src/vnet/MTU.md Change-Id: Iee2fd6f0bbc8210748dd8e073ab9fab87d323690 Signed-off-by: Ole Troan <ot@cisco.com>

- setting MTU on an interface updates the L3 max bytes too - value cached in the adjacency is also updated - MTU exceeded generates ICMP to sender Change-Id: I343ec71d8e903b529594c4bd0543f04bc7f370b3 Signed-off-by: Neale Ranns <neale.ranns@cisco.com>

2017-04-07MPLS McastNeale Ranns1-0/+6
1 - interface-DPO Used in the Data-plane to change a packet's input interface 2 - MPLS multicast FIB entry Same as a unicast entry but it links to a replicate not a load-balance DPO 3 - Multicast MPLS tunnel Update MPLS tunnels to use a FIB path-list to describe the endpoint[s]. Use the path-list to generate the forwarding chain (DPOs) to link to . 4 - Resolve a path via a local label (of an mLDP LSP) For IP multicast entries to use an LSP in the replication list, we need to decribe the 'resolve-via-label' where the label is that of a multicast LSP. 5 - MPLS disposition path sets RPF-ID For a interface-less LSP (i.e. mLDP not RSVP-TE) at the tail of the LSP we still need to perform an RPF check. An MPLS disposition DPO performs the MPLS pop validation checks and sets the RPF-ID in the packet. 6 - RPF check with per-entry RPF-ID An RPF-ID is used instead of a real interface SW if index in the case the IP traffic arrives from an LSP that does not have an associated interface. 2017-04-06BFD-FIB interactionsNeale Ranns1-0/+15
- single-hop BFD: attach a delegate to the appropriate adjacency - multi-hop BFD [not supported yet]: attach a delegate to the FIB entry. adjacency/fib_entry state tracks the BFD session state. when the state is down the object does not contribute forwarding hence and hence dependent objects will not use it. For example, if a route is ECMP via two adjacencies and one of them is BFD down, then only the other is used to forward (i.e. we don't drop half the traffic). 2017-01-27IP Multicast FIB (mfib)Neale Ranns1-1/+0
- IPv[46] mfib tables with support for (*,G/m), (*,G) and (S,G) exact and longest prefix match - Replication represented via a new replicate DPO. - RPF configuration and data-plane checking - data-plane signals sent to listening control planes. The functions of multicast forwarding entries differ from their unicast conterparts, so we introduce a new mfib_table_t and mfib_entry_t objects. However, we re-use the fib_path_list to resolve and build the entry's output list. the fib_path_list provides the service to construct a replicate DPO for multicast. 'make tests' is added to with two new suites; TEST=mfib, this is invocation of the CLI command 'test mfib' which deals with many path add/remove, flag set/unset scenarios, TEST=ip-mcast, data-plane forwarding tests. Updated applications to use the new MIFB functions; - IPv6 NS/RA. - DHCPv6 unit tests for these are undated accordingly.
