2019-05-16init / exit function orderingDave Barach1-11/+10
The vlib init function subsystem now supports a mix of procedural and formally-specified ordering constraints. We should eliminate procedural knowledge wherever possible. The following schemes are *roughly* equivalent: static clib_error_t *init_runs_first (vlib_main_t *vm) { clib_error_t *error; ... do some stuff... if ((error = vlib_call_init_function (init_runs_next))) return error; ... } VLIB_INIT_FUNCTION (init_runs_first); and static clib_error_t *init_runs_first (vlib_main_t *vm) { ... do some stuff... } VLIB_INIT_FUNCTION (init_runs_first) = { .runs_before = VLIB_INITS("init_runs_next"), }; The first form will [most likely] call "init_runs_next" on the spot. The second form means that "init_runs_first" runs before "init_runs_next," possibly much earlier in the sequence. Please DO NOT construct sets of init functions where A before B actually means A *right before* B. It's not necessary - simply combine A and B - and it leads to hugely annoying debugging exercises when trying to switch from ad-hoc procedural ordering constraints to formal ordering constraints. 2018-03-09MPLS Unifom modeNeale Ranns1-31/+4
- support both pipe and uniform modes for all MPLS LSP - all API programming for output-labels requires that the mode (and associated data) is specificed - API changes in MPLS, BIER and IP are involved - new DPO [sub] types for MPLS labels to handle the two modes. 2017-04-07MPLS McastNeale Ranns1-1/+1
1 - interface-DPO Used in the Data-plane to change a packet's input interface 2 - MPLS multicast FIB entry Same as a unicast entry but it links to a replicate not a load-balance DPO 3 - Multicast MPLS tunnel Update MPLS tunnels to use a FIB path-list to describe the endpoint[s]. Use the path-list to generate the forwarding chain (DPOs) to link to . 4 - Resolve a path via a local label (of an mLDP LSP) For IP multicast entries to use an LSP in the replication list, we need to decribe the 'resolve-via-label' where the label is that of a multicast LSP. 5 - MPLS disposition path sets RPF-ID For a interface-less LSP (i.e. mLDP not RSVP-TE) at the tail of the LSP we still need to perform an RPF check. An MPLS disposition DPO performs the MPLS pop validation checks and sets the RPF-ID in the packet. 6 - RPF check with per-entry RPF-ID An RPF-ID is used instead of a real interface SW if index in the case the IP traffic arrives from an LSP that does not have an associated interface. 2017-04-06Use thread local storage for thread indexDamjan Marion1-4/+4
This patch deprecates stack-based thread identification, Also removes requirement that thread stacks are adjacent. Finally, possibly annoying for some folks, it renames all occurences of cpu_index and cpu_number with thread index. Using word "cpu" is misleading here as thread can be migrated ti different CPU, and also it is not related to linux cpu index. 2017-03-17MPLS performance improvments.Neale Ranns1-0/+324
1 - Quad loop lookup and label imposition. 2 - optimise imposition for the 1 label case 3 - input gets TTL from header directly (no byte swap) Change-Id: I59204c9e5d134b0df75d7afa43e360f946d1ffe7 Signed-off-by: Neale Ranns <nranns@cisco.com>
